Midnight blues
- No... it can't.... - Guaine had an unbelieving expression, his face contorted in a grimace - this... can't be happening... that can't be.... happening!!
Dan had finished his explanations to a dismayed man who was now agitating himself violently like Dan himself was moments ago. With a tired, hoarse voice Dan advised:
- I know it doesn't make any sense and sounds like cheap gory fiction, but it's real...... - Dan noticed Guaine was hyperventilating - and we must get the hell out of here, fast. The reason I'm here is to find my sister (God, now I know why she was so stressed and wanted my help), but I'm afraid to even think what might have become of her....
Dan abruptly finished speaking. Silence was now ingrained in the air, as they were looking at all directions, perhaps trying to calm each other down.
- Now I'm really glad I've found someone. There's something out here. Something really ominous...!! - finally spoke Guaine, his voice with a metallic timbre - I felt it the minute I arrived here.
Then, like lighting, Dan remembered Sadha's words, issuing a warning to him. Seemingly, the man wasn't completely insane....
- ... I've been warned, sort of, about this. Probably we should go back. - Dan declared, as if hypnotized.
- Go back where? What you're talking about ?
- At the station I met with a man who was supposed to reunite me with my sister. Before that happened, though..... he went bananas and tried to give me my final meal. In the midst of all, she's still missing. We must return to the apartment where I came from and question him. I had to tie him up, since he definitely was bent on trashing me. There are corpses in one of the rooms. I don't want to think what he been up to before. Maybe he's a bit more cooled down now. I'm SURE he knows something more.
- You're kidding, right ? - Guaine was positively dismantled due to worried terror - the insanity here is bursting through the scale! I won't go question some lunatic.
- It's our best chance. He must be aware of a safe way out of this hell. It's quite risky to just take a random route and stumble over upon God knows whom or... what! Now we realize that the disappearance of the local town's folks isn't natural, or a coincidence, or whatever. Something definitely happened. We have to find out what... and my sister is still missing. I want to know what I have to do to retrieve her.
- Couldn't all of this be that maniac's doing? - retorted Gip.
- Not sure.... But I had stayed with him in the past hour, hour and a half. I think he'd have to be in two places at the same time. At least for the murders in that building. - Dan pointed with the head with gravity towards the door having the number 47.
- And I guess one person couldn't subdue all the people here, right? As I've felt, something is positively lurking around in unexpected whereabouts.
- We'll have to be very, very careful. Anyway, I'm armed in case anything goes sour.
- You're carrying a gun with you?
- Yes, I've it stashed in a safe place. I hope there won't be a need to use it. I've never used guns before, and I think I'm gonna thoroughly hate it.
Let's not stay here much longer. It's settled; we go now.
They embarked on the indigo Honda and rode off in the direction of the leafy trees' street.
